Re-creation Wrap

I'm always on the look out for new styles of ear wear. I found an AWESOME "bohemian" style (I'll call it) ear wrap on Pinterest and attempted to recreate it using materials I had on hand. It turned out rather well, if I do say so myself.

Here is the original inspiration (thank you to the creator, very beautiful). Here is my version:

I'm very pleased with how this turned out. I really like it, and its for me and me ALONE!!!!!! ha ha ha ha lol

Yet another Cuff

I'm on a roll now that I have more wire to work with. I have since made another cuff, that this time, I actually got a compliment on.

Really pretty, yet really simple. Silver coated copper wire, with a Swarovski crystal between two frosted silver beads. I like it. Looking to try some more soon.

Looped Wrap

I saw this ear wrap on Etsy (and omg did it take forever for me to find it again) and thought it was neat. I thought it would be more complicated to make than it actually was. I would have taken a picture of it while wearing it, but my phone is low on battery life so I can't take a pic with it on at the moment.

I'm not sure if I should call it a looped ear wrap or petaled. I'm also thinking of possibly adding chain to it and some beads, but that won't be for a bit (when I get some more chain).

I think it looks cool, and looks a LOT nicer than some of my other wraps. I'm also going to make this in silver-plated copper.

------------------------------------

I just finished making a pair to match the one pictured above. I'm not sure how I feel about them being purple. Purple just doesn't suit my skin color lol. The ear-wraps look cool though.

Cuff Re-Start

I'm finally able to restart doing Ear Cuffs. I was able to obtain some more wire and more beads. However, I made only one cuff with beads, I made two others using just the wire.

This one, made with purple wire, also contains clear Swarovski crystal, and clear seed beads on either side of the crystal. There are four sections all together (I used my finger to display, only because I don't have much time at the moment to take pix of them on my ear).

This one is just a simplistic cuff of silver coated copper wire. I like it because of it's simplistic nature, and comes with two loops that sit on the inside of the ear.

This one is an ear wrap (might be a little hard to see). As opposed to an ear cuff, an ear wrap sits behind the ear and can be used in any number of ways. This one accommodates a possible dangle, or even a stud...but others can accommodate feathers, other beads, chains etc. The possibilities are endless.

Oh how I"ve missed making my cuffs. I can't wait until I am able to obtain MORE wire and beads and see where my imagination takes me.

More Creativity

I've been working hard these past couple of days on making more cuffs and wraps. I'm trying to create an inventory of items to sell at perhaps a craft fair or farmer's market either this coming summer or next.

Here are a couple more examples:

Picture's 4 and 5 were surprises for me to discover. I never thought about expanding my creations to incorporate the nose or the tragus (lol). They are really interesting things to make...and STILL non-piercing!!! Amazing!!! lol (**Note: the ones shown in my nose and in my ear will not themselves be sold (if and when I sell them), but used as an example...it's just a sanitary thing)

Jewellery: Earrings

I love earrings. My favorite type of earrings are long, dangle-y types. The problem: I don't have pierced ears. This presents a problem for me. All types of earrings provided in stores are for pierced ears only...and the few that ARE geared towards the pierced-less, are rather gaudy, giant things, designed to hide the clips. UUUUUHHH-GLY. Why is it that there can't be fashionable styles in the market place for those who haven't take the giant leap to painful piercing?

I now make my own earrings, due to this lack of stylish earring designs, with a little help from the internet. I have made a few designs from tutorials found online and added my own flair to them. I LOVE ear cuffs. I think they are the neatest thing, and was SHOCKED (yes, shocked) at how EASY it was to make my own. The only cuffs I had seen were solid pieces of flat metal, and that was in the late '80's (twenty-some odd years ago). I never knew that it was so simple as merely twisting some 20 gauge wire in a creative way, that one could create pierce-less earrings.

Some ear cuff designs I have made:

I made these with flimsy 22 gauge wire, but I can easily remake these with the more sturdier 20 gauge. The point is, here are some interesting re-creations and modifications I have made. I'm quite proud of the creations I have made. But my latest creation, I have outdone myself in it's simplicity. While they still hold risk of coming off (for the mere fact that they are not for pierced ears), this latest style I found (again online) and found it will stay on (even with vigorous head shaking) all day, just don't tug or pull on them.
I think this one shocked me most in it's simplistic design. It's nothing more than a wire ring. If I were to wear these with a more flimsy type of wire, they would fall off in no time. Again, using 20 gauge wire, I call these earrings "Slip-ons" as opposed to "Clip-on's", for the mere fact that you don't open or close anything, and simply slip them onto the ear either up by the jaw line into position, or down from the outside of the ear. I love this design because it gives the illusion of pierced ears, and the best part...NO PAIN WHATSOEVER!!!

The common problem I have found with common clip on type earrings is pain with the pinching clips. You can only wear clips for a couple of hours (not even), then you have to take them off. This ring here, doesn't hurt AT ALL, lasts all day, and can accommodate a lightweight charm.

Where I got the design idea, they showed the piece with a small crystal-like charm. Curiously, I attached a set of stars I purchased while visiting my mother, and voilĂ ...I have my own earrings, and it looks like I went through the painful process of having a hole poked through my skin. I think with these, I may experiment with a thicker or stronger gauge wire to see how much better I can get them to stay and see how heavy a dangle I can get away with before they fall off.

They say necessity is the mother of all invention. If there's a will, there's a way, and the will I had was to have the opportunity to wear beautiful earrings without a painful process (let's face it, I have zero tolerance for pain, it's amazing I had children).

Perhaps a new jewellery line, designed and made by me...we'll see.
