Essential Oils and Safety

I've come across a good article listing how to safely use essential oils. There are entirely TOO many posts out there in the inter-netting-world advising people ingest essential oils. This is a HUGE no-no! Essential oils are potent liquids. Just because they're "natural" doesn't mean they're safe for ingestion. Not only can they potentially damage delicate tissue within the body (if you ingest something, like cinnamon or peppermint), but they can also cause organ failure if you ingest too much (and this can include over a long period of time, not necessarily all at once).

Just because something is labelled "natural" doesn't mean it's safe. Herbs such as Belladonna and Nightshade are natural plants, however they are HIGHLY poisonous; Sharks and Anacondas are natural, however they are predatory animals.

Personally I believe it to be irresponsible of "certain companies" (I won't name names) to boast the "therapeutic grade" of their oils. For one thing, there is no organization that regulates the consumptionability of essential oils. Second there is no such thing as "therapeutic grade". Oils are oils and are extracted (basically) the same way and regardless of how they are extracted, their composition is mostly the same (give or take depending on the oil).

But enough about my own cautions about essential oils and ingestion, here is the link. I suggest anyone looking to start using oils look this over first:
