About 2 years after taking my course on herbal health (which included learning about the use of Essential Oils) I have FINALLY started experimenting with essential oils. I only have four oils (as they are not cheap), but these oils are useful for combating an ailment I am currently being afflicted with (I have a cough that just won't let up. It's not accompanied by any other symptoms).
I have organic coconut oil that I bought a few months ago that I hadn't used yet, and decided (after looking through the materials I still had from my course) to try making a rub of my own for my cough. I'm letting it set for a bit before I try applying it.
Cough Blend
2 tsp Coconut oil
2 drops Lavender
2 drops Tea Tree
3 drops Eucalyptus (only because I accidentally added one extra, lol).
I placed them in a small container I had that was holding a plantain salve I had made years ago (that I should remake, as it's probably no more good). I discarded the old salve, washed the container out with soap and water about 3 times to make sure ALL the salve was gone) and added the new rub. I placed it in the fridge (as sitting out it was rather liquid-y).
I'm going to be the guinea pig for this creation. I wouldn't apply it to my family members without knowing how it works on me first. I'm hoping it works but it may take a few days to see any sort of result.

**UPDATE**
Well, because what I had wasn't a typical cough, it unfortunately didn't work. But...I WAS given some proper medication at the hospital for the type of cough I had and am happy to say it went away. UNFORTUNATELY (or maybe fortunately), this was a while ago, and I now seem to be in the early stages of a new cold. I'll try this rub again and note it's effectiveness.
**Disclaimer***
I do not claim to be an expert on the use of essential oils. I place this "blend" here for informational purposes only. Seek a trained aromatherapist for expert advice.
